Congratulations on starting a World Orphans Campaign! You are on your way to making a difference in the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children. Here are some tips to help you make a maximum impact through your Campaign.
- Promote Your Campaign: Spread the word through social media, word of mouth, flyers, posters, and emails. Keep your Campaign at the front of people’s minds. We encourage you to share your Campaign on social media at least once per week at the beginning of the Campaign and more frequently as the event approaches.
- Share Statistics and Stories: Appeal to your audience’s logic and emotions. You can find statistics on our “Why Orphans?” page and stories on our blog. Make your Campaign personal by sharing your heart for orphaned and vulnerable children. What inspired you to start a Campaign?
Employ Your Creativity and Our Resources: Take advantage of materials provided in your Starter Kit and the resources available on our website. If you need something else, feel free to create your own or ask us for help. Get everyone’s attention online by using photos and videos. Keep brochures and flyers on hand and look for opportunities to pass them out to those around you.
- Expand Your Reach: Why limit yourself to sharing on social media or with a few close friends? Use your network! Reach out to your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, church community, school friends, teammates, etc. You never know who might want to take action to help children.
Simplify the Donation Process: Include your Kindful donation page link on every post and all promotional material. Set up a table for donations at your event. Bring a laptop or a tablet, so people can give online. Post instructions for donations. See the Donation Submission Instructions for more information.
Set an Example: Start by giving to your own Campaign. Demonstrate your investment in the cause by sacrificing a cup of coffee or a lunch out with friends, so that you can give. Remind yourself and others that every bit counts.
Double or Triple Your Results: Reach out to local businesses, and ask your friends and family to do the same. Use the materials in your Starter Kit to invite businesses to match your donations up to a certain amount. With just one business match, you could double your impact!
Dream Big and Share Your Goals: Think of what you could raise and then think bigger. Break down your goal and share your progress. Challenge people to help you reach deadlines (i.e. “Help us reach $100 by Friday!”). Use your business donor match to build momentum. For example, “Every gift given up to $1,000 will be matched. Your $50 gift is really $100!”
Help Us Help You: Share your promotional materials, pictures, and videos with us before, during, and after the event. We love promoting and celebrating Campaigns!
Foster Gratitude: Stay positive and appreciative. Thank everyone for their help and their generosity. Remember that your Campaign is a win-win situation. No matter how much you raise or how many people attended your event, you made an impact. You used your voice to make a difference. Your advocacy and the funds raised will go a long way towards providing food, clothing, medical care, trauma counseling, and the love of Christ to children and families around the world.
Donation Methods and Instructions
Kindful Donor Page- Your personal online Campaign page is the easiest way for you and others to give. We encourage you to promote this method. Please log in at least weekly to check your progress and to see who has given. Be sure to thank every donor!
Cash- Collecting cash is best when conducting a sale or hosting an event. Set up a bucket or a cash box and assign someone you trust to manage it. Once you collect cash, you will need to deposit it in your personal bank account. Then, log in to your Kindful page and donate the total amount collected.
Check- You may also collect checks. Checks should be made out to World Orphans* and should have your Campaign name on the memo line. Checks should be mailed to: World Orphans, P.O. Box 1840, Castle Rock, CO 80104
*Exception: If you do your Campaign through your church or school, they may prefer to have the checks made out to them in order to write one check to World Orphans. Please let us know if this is the chosen method.
