Auri's Story

Guatemala Director of Church Mobilization Auri Vasquez joined the World Orphans team in 2016. Auri graduated from the University of San Carlos of Guatemala with a degree in psychology. Following graduation, Auri began working as an educator in a temporary shelter for adolescent victims of sexual abuse. Additionally, Auri worked with Families Without Violence—a project focused on preventing sexual abuse against school-age children.

Auri’s extensive work and educational background has made Auri a vital part of World Orphans work in Guatemala. Auri originally began serving with World Orphans as a psychologist, counseling children that had faced significant trauma. Now, in Auri’s new role, she comes alongside pastoral couples, providing support to them as they lead churches, invest in their local communities, and serve vulnerable families. Auri is delighted to accompany pastors in their work with the church and families in need.

When Auri isn’t counseling families and serving local Guatemalan churches, she may be found playing electric base in a band with her sisters or singing in the Gospel Choir of Guatemala, a 40-person traveling choir.
