About Chris & Lauren Turpaud

Our journey with World Orphans began in 2014 when we signed up for a trip to visit several churches in Ethiopia. During the trip we were blown away by the unique way that World Orphans engages local churches to be the hands and feet of Jesus through wholistic care. We clearly felt that God was beckoning us to take the next step towards dependency on him and so we began to fundraise. Through the faithful support of friends and families we moved to Guatemala City in October 2015 to begin our work.

World Orphans believes in a model of care that we call Home Based Care. We believe God designed children to thrive and belong in families. As such we actively work to partner international churches from some of the most impoverished countries in the world with US churches, who can provide financial and relational resources to aid them in their efforts to care for orphans, vulnerable children, and families. While in Guatemala we witnessed the power of Christ as he turned the hearts of men, women, and children to him through the uncompromising love of the local church. We saw his hand moving visibly in the communities through youth and single mothers compelled by Christ's love for the lost to recapture their communities for Jesus and care for the oppressed and the poor in spirit! We saw many success stories and the power of Christ mightily at work, but there remains an incredible amount of need around the world.

We have returned to live in the US, but our work with World Orphans continues. Lauren and I, in our roles as Church Partnership Directors, are responsible for facilitating the flow of communication between partnered churches to foster the growth of deeper relationships, mutual encouragement, and a unified wholistic effort to restore children to healthy families. As we manage and look for new partners for our international churches around the globe, our deepest desire is for children and families to be restored, churches engaged, and communities transformed by the Gospel of Christ.

We firmly believe that God has prepared us and called us for the task at hand. Additionally we are blessed to represent an organization such as World Orphans who faithfully stewards their resources so that the majority of their funds goes directly towards projects that care for orphans and vulnerable children. Thus, Lauren and I can boldly ask friends and family members with conviction to prayerfully and financially support our work with World Orphans. Any donation you make on our behalf is tax-deductible and goes towards funding our salary, health benefits, and our ministry work. Your prayers are invaluable to us as we recognize it is by God's hand and God's provision alone that we are able to participate in this work and they go a long way to encourage us as we continue to walk by faith!
