Traded to a neighbor for a bottle of wine, Christina later reconnects with siblings

When Christina was only 6 years old, her mother died, leaving her in the care of an alcoholic father. Though he said he loved his daughter, Christina’s father traded her to a neighbor for wine.

Christina was extremely unhappy and cried everyday so the neighbor sent her to a state-run orphanage. Christina’s grandmother tried to bring her home to her house, but didn’t know how to find her.

After living in the orphanage for 10 years, Christina graduated when she was 16 years old and had no way to support herself.

She was sent to a World Orphans partner transition home where she is currently studying to be a seamstress and fashion designer.

Christina is back in touch with her older brother who is studying to be an engineer. Her younger brother is about to graduate from a state-run orphanage and her older sister is married with two children.

At the transition home, Christina is able to maintain her relationships with her biological siblings while she builds new friendships with the girls in the home.

Her favorite hobbies are reading the bible and participating in drama classes. For the first time in her life, Christina is able to make clear plans for the future.

Thousands of children like Christina are receiving help from our partner churches in 14 different countries. But without the support of our generous donors, these projects could not survive.

This holiday season, World Orphans needs 300 individuals or families who will commit to giving $33 a month to help children like Christina and others that you will learn about during these 33 days. Will you help World Orphans give the gift of hope to these children?

As a way of thanking you for your support we’ll send you a free gift. (More details.)
